Nashville Mayor Karl Dean has made healthy living a focus for Nashville through a citywide campaign called NashVitality, which encourages healthy, active and green communities throughout the city.
Since taking office, Mayor Dean has invested over $250 million in public infrastructure to help citizens live healthy, active lives, including sidewalks, bikeways, greenways, community centers and new park space. To inspire Nashville residents to take advantage of the city’s resources for a healthy lifestyle, Mayor Dean has created several citywide health events and challenges, including Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor, the Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run and Mayor’s Field Day with the Tennessee Titans.
Mayor Dean’s next health initiative is 100 Miles with the Mayor where Nashville residents are invited to join him to walk, bike and paddle across Davidson County from May 3 through May 22.
